Pro FW Desktop Wallpapers (PT II)

Another year has gone by and looking at the stats on this website it’s easy to see that one of the most viewed articles is the first Pro FW Desktop Wallpapers collection I posted on here a while back, as a means to put together some nice photos of Formula Windsurfing. There is still very little in the way of hi-resolution images floating around the internet and the major brands still shy away from using them in their photoshoots, so I thought it would be nice to put together some images that were collected over the last few months in Australia, as a number of big names were in town for some of the Australian FW racing events. Here are 14 wallpapers available FREE right here on CarbonSugar in a variety of screen resolutions. Enjoy!

To give credit where its due, the list of wallpapers includes:

Photographers include Paul Santelmann, Rob Plim, Tam Ting and Adam Craven however all images have been edited, airbrushed and otherwise touched-up and dirtied by myself.

Enjoy!

    Thanks Eric!

That was a typo in the filename. Thanks for the heads up! Now fixed 😉

    Hi Sean,

You have very cool desktop background. I download a few and put them in my computers. thanks,

I saw an image of Jesper Vesterstrøm and he uses a waist harnes. I also use waist harness for formula. I feel very confortable but at the end of the day I have a slight back pain. He seems very confortable with his waist harnes.

Can you tell me what harness hi is wearing?

    thanks,

      Andre,

Was just chatting to Jesper now about it. All the photos on these wallpapers were shot in Australia with a helicopter photoshoot we did for our Nationals, not during racing. So Jesper and a few of us were wearing waist harnesses just to look a bit cooler (I’m actually wearing a t-shirt! hahaha)

Jesper definitely wears a seat harness for formula, as do I, however he is using a waist for slalom he told me (I still use a seat for slalom).

There are a few guys using waist harnesses for formula; I can’t at all as my back starts screaming after 10 minutes with a waist!! However, I like the feeling of having the bar a little higher and having my legs a bit more free, so what I am currently doing is using a seat harness but then not putting the leg-straps on. So I get the freedom of no leg straps however the harness sits up a little bit more from where it normally does as a seat.

I have an ION harness (Jesper uses ION harnesses also) and its got quite a ‘bucket’ style seat which still seems to grip without the leg straps; it would probably slide up too much with other seat harnesses.

        Hi Sean,

        Good reply.
Waist harness look very cool. Seat harness look like a diaper… lame, but more confortable.
Which Ion diaper do you use? The “Octane”, “Fuel” or “Pace” windsurf seat harness?
“Fuel” seems like your bucket style.
How about the NS with the air pump in the back. It is called the X-Over Air harness. It is a waist NS harnes with and can be adapted as a seat harness. Do you have any sailor friends who have used this? Do you have any feedback from this harness?

Thanks for your time to reply to my post.

        Grazie,

        Andre

        Thanks for your time

The waist harness is ideal for smaller non-slalom gear in higher winds. IMHO the seat makes you more efficient in light winds and faster in heaver winds because the force is loaded directly into your pelvis and legs. A waist is attached to a squishier part your body. Leverage vectors are different too, you can “sit” on the sail with a seat harness. If fashion is your concern, you can get a integrated seat/shorts harness.

  • Sean OBrien says:

Yeah, seat harnesses do really look like a bucket.

Actually in 2011 its really bad; all the cool harness brands like Mystic, ION, DaKine etc have stopped making their nice low-cut seat harnesses and only do these massive bucket seats (Bjorn Dunkerbeck style). Looks horrific! haha.

I am using the ‘Octane Low’ from about 4 years ago when ION still did low cut seat harnesses. Now all they do is the high-cut one. I know a bunch of guys who still use the low cut one from 4 years ago – so if anyone knows a shop that still has some left let me know (I buy all of them! – best harness ever made!)

I tried out the DaKine “shorts” harness which is actually for kiting but it’s not so good – the shorts are going to tear off your legs and you can’t tighten it so well.

I haven’t used the North harness. Sounds interesting with the air-pump. I’ll see if I can find someone who is using it. I’m not a big fan of white harnesses though – black is the way forwards! haha.
